COMPETITION RULES

  • Open to all currently enrolled Augusta University students (i.e. undergraduate, graduate students). Doctoral students can enter the 3 Minute Thesis competition.

  • Students are encouraged to form interdisciplinary teams, and also individuals can submit ideas.

  • Top student submissions will be given the opportunity to work with an external mentor after preliminary rounds.

  • Students are allowed to present prototypes and mockups or pamphlets to judges. Prototyping is not necessary but may be helpful as a visual aid for the judging panel.

  • Any student who violates the Augusta University Code of Conduct during the competition will be provided due processes and result in team elimination from the competition.

  • Student teams may use the Garage makerspace and MakeStartups  resources.

  • No AU faculty/employees are judges.

  • Residents (medical or dental) and postdocs, by virtue of their employee status, are not eligible to participate.

  • AU employees who are also students are not eligible to participate.

  • The week of the event we will have an event space preview with practice session for all teams.

  • A judging panel to choose the winners from the final pitch competition will review the concept summaries and fill out an award criteria evaluation rubric.

  • Evaluation of the submitted entries will be completed by close of presentation event.
